How to get around Berlin

There are several ways to arrive at and depart from the BER airport. Check out the up to date information at the BER website or the VBB Travel Information. 

Option 1 (train, S-Bahn, U-Bahn; travel time 55 min)

  • take train (RE7, RB14, RB22, or FEX) towards Hauptbahnhof and get off S Ostkreuz Bhf
  • change to Ringbahn (S-Bahn) S 41 (⥁) and get off at S+U Heidelberger Platz
  • change to subway U3, direction of Krumme Lanke
  • alight at Freie Universität (Thielplatz).

Option 2 (S-Bahn, U-Bahn; travel time about 1 hr)

  • walk to (S-Bahn) train station Flughafen BER – Terminal 1-2
  • take (S-Bahn) train S9, direction of Pankow
  • get off train S9 at Treptower Park
  • change to circle line S41 travelling west/clockwise (⥁)
  • get off train S41 at S+U Heidelberger Platz
  • change to subway U3, direction of Krumme Lanke
  • alight at Freie Universität (Thielplatz).

  • take (S-Bahn) train S7 (direction of Potsdam) or S75 (Westkreuz) or S5 (Spandau)
  • get off train at Zoologischer Garten
  • change to subway U9, direction of Rathaus Steglitz
  • get off subway U9 at Spichernstr.
  • change to subway U3, direction of Krumme Lanke
  • alight at Freie Universität (Thielplatz); travel time ca. 35 min

  • take subway U5 U Museumsinsel (direction of Hauptbahnhof) - 1 stop
  • change trains at U Unter den Linden onto U6 (direction Alt-Mariendorf) - 3 stops
  • change trains at U Hallesches Tor onto U3 (direction of Krumme Lanke) - 15 stops
  • alight at Freie Universität (Thielplatz); travel time ca. 45 min

  • take U3 towards Krumme Lanke and alight at Freie Universität (Thielplatz)
  • leave the station in train's travel direction and take the left exit (on Brümmerstr.)
  • turn right (southeast) and walk for 170 m; the hotel is on the left side of the street

Get there by public transport:

Option 1

  • take U3 from U Freie Universität (Thielplatz) towards Warschauer Straße
  • change at U Hallesches Tor into U6 towards Kurt-Schumacher-Platz
  • change at U Unter den Linden into U5 towards Tierpark for one last stop
  • alight at U Museumsinsel and walk towards Portal 3 (50 m)

Option 2

  • use the U3 from U Freie Universität (Thielplatz) towards Warschauer Straße
  • change at U Nollendorfplatz into U2 (direction Pankow) and alight at station Spittelmarkt 
  • enjoy a short walk (800 m) along the (beautiful) Kupfergraben to the venue

  • turn right (east) onto Königin-Luise-Str. (100 m walk)
