Prof. Dr. Peter Hegemann, a renowned specialist in photobiology and co-founder of optogenetics,
has been invited to speak at the Einstein Lecture Dahlem. In his lecture "OPTOBIO-Berlin: Biologie mit Licht gestalten", he will take the audience on a journey through the new research field of optobiology, a symbiosis of photobiology, optogenetics and high-resolution image processing, which opens up new possibilities for science in the study of neuronal networks and the functioning of the brain. It is hoped that future applications will be in the field of non-invasive treatments, e.g. for restoring lost sight, Parkinson's disease, and other neurological disorders.

The lecture (in German) will take place on November 7th, 2023 at 18:00 in the Henry Ford Building at the Free University of Berlin, and can also be viewed online on the YouTube channel of the Free University of Berlin.
