16.07.2019: The Warren Alpert Foundation Award aims at honoring scientific approaches that illuminate and modulate the activity of neurons, study the function and behavior of the brain and lay the foundation for optogenetic therapies. The work of four scientists has been honored collectively for their groundbreaking advancements to control the inner workings of the brain. Prof. Dr. Peter Hegemann has been distinguished with the award for his discoveries regarding the key principles of light-sensitive channel structure and function.
