SFB Retreat 2022 in Chorin
Program and impressions of the retreat taking place April 05 - 07, 2022.
After more than a year, SFB 1078 members could finally meet again for three full days in Chorin close to Berlin to share their scientific progress and achieved results of the past years.
During this hybrid event, more than 30 scientists presented their latest results and shared their knowledge and experience across the 19 SFB sub-projects. Although not all members could attend in person, researchers on-site as well as online got together for 8 sessions of scientific talks and extensive debates. The detailed program may be found here.
We were very happy that Prof Anne-Frances Miller from the Kentucky University and currently Einstein Visiting Fellow at the UniSyCat consortium accepted our invitation and presented on her excellent research about "How proteins control electrons: Protons".
We spent one afternoon with a visit to the beautiful Chorin Monastery. The lively discussions continued at the second evening, including topics as the continuum band and electrostatics, as well as the future of the SFB involving the doctoral students. The young researchers of the Integrated graduate school (IGK) presented their work in short elevator pitches of only 3 min. Congratulations go to Ronja Paschke from project B9, who was awarded for the best pitch by the audience.
We want to thank all participants, who made this a successful hybrid event and a fruitful retreat!
