The SFB 1078 kindly invites you to the following colloquium talk, hosted by Prof. Joachim Heberle (FUB):
Prof. Ville Kaila (Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, University Stockholm)
Title: Exploring the Molecular Principles of Protonation Dynamics in Biological Energy Conversion
With the new funding period, he joined the SFB 1078 as Mercator fellow. His work is focused on understanding molecular principles of enzyme catalysis, with a special emphasis on how biological systems capture and store chemical and light energy. These processes are of key importance for elucidating the molecular basis of cell respiration and photosynthesis. To obtain insight into the structure, energetics, and dynamics of these membrane-bound proteins, Kaila’s research team employs and develops new methodologies of computational biochemistry that are combined with biochemical and biophysical experiments. Further details can be found on his lab homepage.
